'I have a house. There are rooms in the house.
There is a terrace outside the front door. After
the terrace you walk up three steps to go inside.'
THE HOUSE is a story about a woman who starts to hear extra voices. They interfere with her perception of the world and gradually disrupt the time and space around her. She shuts out all images by covering the windows of her house with black curtain so as to be able to be in the space where the sounds are.
The story is based on interviews and discussions with women who have gone trhough psychosis. The material has been developed by using ideas of loss of chronological time and the vanishing of the experience of a complete space. The aim of the story is to explore the breadown of a coherent world, the collapse of the logic of perception, and the loss of the sense of passing time.
The work is shown in three simultaneous projections. The material is split into three parts and the story has been edited to unfold on three screens. The intention is to explore the possibilities of disrupting the traditional causal logic, structure and space for perception in screen narrative, while still being able to follow the events.
